#2 – The Ahsoka Tano Story
UPDATE – we recently got an amazing novel by EK Johnston that more of less covers this, and I’ll be posting my full review in a day or two. In the meantime enjoy what I worked up and my Canon Casting…. Yes, we need this. I need this. You need this. The entire Star Wars community needs this story. I’m not really gonna attempt an outline here, as I want to see what happens in the young adult Ahsoka novel that will be dropping this fall. I’ll just say the setting would be after she leaves the Jedi order and would include her meeting back up with Rex, Gregor, and Wolffe (including the story on how they avoided Order 66). I’ve said this on air multiple times and I’ll say it again here – after Luke and Anakin, Ahsoka’s story arc is the best character arc in the Star Wars saga so far (we will see what happens with Rey and Ben Solo). Because of the format of the Clone Wars television series, we got to know her in a way that’s difficult when you’re only dealing with 2.5 hour movies. We watched her grow from the straight-up most annoying Star Wars character ever (well, except for maybe Ziro the Hutt, and every Ewok) to a character whose arc ended in an incredibly heartbreaking fashion, not only for her but also her Master (which helped to plant the seeds of mistrust between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and the Jedi Council and Order in general).
Canon Casting::
- Chloe Bennet at Ahsoka Tano
- Temuera Morrison as Clone Troppers Rex/Wolffe/Gregor
#1 – The Hunt for Maul – directed by Ben Affleck
A good, old fashioned Star Wars western set in-between Sith and Hope. The gist this – a renegade Maul is on the loose, reigning terror with what’s left of his Death Watch unit on a small, uncivilized moon. I would love to see this story simply because it would give us a chance to see Obi-Wan again, as well as fan favorite Clone Wars characters like Bo-Katan Kryze, Quinlan Vos, and Luminara Unduli, not to mention finally deal with the end of Maul (although recent Rebels events have possibly pointed towards him being dealt with once and for all. Here would be my seven: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luminara Unduli (who was proven to survive Order 66 in Star Wars Rebels, and would be a nice setup to her state of captivity we see her in during Rebels), Quinlan Vos (again, whose fate was never proven), Bo-Katan Kryze (fan favorite Mandalorian from the Clone Wars), an unnamed Clone (let’s just say Commander Gree for shits & giggles), an original character to be named by the writers/director, and —— MACE WINDU. Yes, that Mace Windu. Yes, he survived Palpatine’s force lightning but is drastically changed. Obviously sporting a mechanical hand, he is older and actually has hair, white hair. He also has one yellow eye, to indicate the effects of the Force lightning and to showcase him as a character that is straddling the line. We all know SLJ has been lobbying hard for a return, why not this way??? How rad would it be if not only did Obi-Wan have to kill Maul, but also Windu. Poor Obi-Wan…..

Bonus:
As I mentioned in the July podcast, I want to see the entire Prequels remade in anime form, Death Note style. I was inspired by this photo:
and I would absolutely love to see the entire trilogy retold in this form. In a perfect world I would break it up into a 6 part Netflix-style series, incorporating key points from the Clone Wars (i.e. Ahsoka, Ventress, etc) to flesh out the story and give the political points more time to breathe. Yes, I know this will probably never happen, but I want o be on record say I would MUCH rather have this than some kind of bullshit ‘special edition’. And yes, Jar Jar would be there. Ultimately, I love the Prequels – sue me. I just want to see the story told in a better way, the way we deserve. If you want, hit the comments below and let me know what you think, I’d love to hear from you all. And May The Force Be With You, Always.
